While often associated with its political and economic doctrine, the term Laissez-Faire literally means, “Let do” or “Allow to do”. While the exact origins of the phrase are unclear, it is rooted in the idea that individuals, allowed to pursue their own interests, will in turn benefit the larger community…..We think this goes for parties too! To this end, we created Laissez Fare Events with the intent of providing individuals with access to fresh ideas and the top talent in the business, whether they want to direct the event themselves or allow our team of professionals “to do” the work on their behalf.

A product of Wall Street and the Culinary Arts, founderĀ Lynn Ely Dixon turned in her briefcase for an apron in 2002, attending The Institute for Culinary Education in New York City. Following graduation, Lynn went to work for acclaimed chef, Daniel Boulud, first in the kitchen of Daniel, and then as the Director of Special Events for his catering operations, Feast & Fetes. During her six years with the company, Lynn helped in the planning and oversight of 500+ events a year, working with the who’s who of New York, including celebrities, Fortune 500 companies, charity organizations, and some of the most discriminating foodies the city has to offer.

A native of Locust Valley, Lynn recently returned to the area with her family, and started LaissezFare to offer more locally based event planning, and enhance the range of services available to clients on the north shore of Long Island and beyond.
